Filipino boxer and Senator Manny Pacquiao said he would carry on fighting next year after unveiling a new boxing gym in downtown Tokyo on Friday. The 37-year-old southpaw returned to the ring after a seven month retirement to claim the WBO welterweight title by beating Jessie Vargas in Las Vegas earlier this month. "I think about it, I can still fight and my body is still okay so I decided to come back and I'm here, my journey is continued," Pacquiao said in the Japanese capital.

Lucas Browne's promotors are investigating the Australian heavyweight boxer's second positive doping result in a year, saying it is ''a bitter blow'' after his previous exoneration. Hatton Promotions issued a statement early Wednesday saying it was aware of reports Browne had failed a test undertaken recently as part of the World Boxing Council's clean boxing program. This comes seven months after he tested positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol following the March 5 bout against Ruslan Chagaev of Uzbekistan, which he won in a 10th-round technical knockout.

Andre Ward survived a second-round knockdown Saturday night to do just enough to win a narrow decision over Sergey Kovalev in a battle of unbeaten light heavyweights. Ward took Kovalev's light heavyweight titles in a fight that lived up to its advance billing, winning enough rounds late to eke out a unanimous decision. All three ringside judges had Ward winning 114-113.
