Tyson Quotes

"On the importance of will: 'When two men are fighting, what makes youre watching is more a contest of wills than of skills, with the stronger will usually overcoming skill. The skill will prevail only when it is so superior to the other mans skill that the will is not tested . As times as you see a fellow get tired in the course of a fight, note that he gets tired when pressure builds up, after he gets hurt or hes been......Read more"

Tyson Trainer: Freddie Roach Ringwalk music: Tupac - Ambitions as a rider

After a long lay-off, settling with a lot of personal problems like his bankruptcy, Mike Tysons return to the ring was well anticipated. He worked again with Freddie Roach in his corner and was originally scheduled to fight Kevin McBride. On later stage the event was upgraded and the more creditable Danny Williams was chosen to be the opponent. Mike went into the fight with 'all or nothing' at stake. He looked simply amazing in the first round as the bodywork, handspeed, combos and headmovement were all there. Danny Williams was getting punished badly and was rocked and wobbling several times, but managed to stay on foot by holding and leaning on Tyson for dear life. Seconds before the end of the first round Tyson made a strange movement towards his left knee and everybody (including the commentators) immediately saw something was wrong.
Later it would be revealed Mike had torn a ligament in his left knee. A serious injury that would effect his performance badly. Both fighters landed good shots in round two, then Williams was deducted two points in round three by referee Dennis Alfred for hitting on the break and a low blow, however Tyson was cut over the right eye from an unintentional headbutt and seemed to be tiring. In round four, Williams took control, finally dropping Tyson with a barrage of punches. A dazed Tyson was unable to beat the count. Time was 2:51. After the fight, Tyson advisor Shelly Finkel stated that Tyson twisted his left knee in the first round, not allowing him to get the leverage he wanted on his punches. He underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery three days after.
