This is fascinating, I think. The Mike Tyson legend/mystique/myth will live on till the end of time.

Jeff Bridges found inspiration from a surprising source - 1980s boxing world champion Mike Tyson.
He said: "I read this article, an interview with Mike Tyson, and it was about fear.
"He explained the reason he'd get in the ring and fight as quickly and furiously as he did was because he was afraid he'd get an asthma attack."
He added: "I was afraid of this role. Like Tyson, it's all about using fear like a fire. You can warm yourself on it but you must stop it consuming you.
"As an actor, I always try to warm myself on the fear."
And let me add that highly recommend Crazy Heart. Great movie! Bridges definitely played a character Mike would empathize with.
...And here's an interview with Hugh Jackman proclaiming "there's a lot of Mike Tyson in Wolverine."

"When I first started the role of Wolverine, back for the first 'X-Men' movie, I watched a lot of Mike Tyson videos in my trailer," Jackman said as he shadow-boxed. "The way he just goes straight in. I kept saying to the writers, 'Don't give me long, choreographed fights for the sake of it. Don't make the fights pretty.' Like Tyson, if Wolverine wants to take your . . . head off, he's going to do it." |

Uh...OK.
What does this have to do with actors saying that they find inspiration from Mike Tyson? |

Hugh Jackman as well?? Now that is pretty cool.
I guess this is what most of us would prefer Tyson to be remember as. The fighter inside the ring, one of the most interesting characters ever in the sport rather than ALL the negativity that surrounds him outside of it.
His story is also one of succes, because despite of the way his career ended up, it's just amazing that he became the youngest Heavyweight champion of all time after he came from nothing basicely.
So yeah, he probably is an inspiritation to people of all kinds of professions including actors. |
