I would agree he was the most explosive fighter without doubt but strongest, i am not so sure about. Granted no one could match his punching power but he was overpowered and pushed around in his last few fights. Plus his character in and out of the ring at times was questionable. Now dont get me wrong i am a massive tyson fan, I just think mike falls a little short of been awarded the title "best of all time", best of HIS time, without question. But all time, afraid not. I think our biggest problem is the complete and utter lack of talent in the current HW division so we tend to look at mike's career through tinted specs. |

No i dont think mike was the best of all time but i do believe he had the potential to be the best of all time its a real shame we will never no.I think the best was joe louis myselfand not ali because if you watch ali he had alot faults his reflexes were just so fast he was rarely punised for them but he could be beaten louis had no waekness and in his prime was unbeatable but everyone has different views on this one. |

hi, i'd put joe louis as the best of all time & tyson after him but ali was definately not the best of all time ali has also stated that tyson is much faster & morepowerful than anyone he's faced tyson himself has said he couldn't beat ali maybe tyson could get joe louis i believe but loius would get the rematch i pick louis, tyson ,ali , marciano , holmes ,walcott ,dempsey i cannot judge jack johnson against these guys really its very hard tyson is the most exciting & that is what saves boxing thats why that is more important i have him in second on some days first. |

i have researched to confirm & i stick to my original post that all these great fighters tyson in his prime was heavier than most of these guys people have overrated foremans power so much because they see him as being big but as ali said "who dod he ko out cold with 1 hit " & then he would say walcott & cooper hit harder than shavers & foreman easily but tyson has the advantage of all these fighters in a fight because he rarely got hit twice by the same punch .his speed is what till this day still fascinates me ,the speed combined with his natural power is something i'm sure i will never see again even if someone comes along he won't slip & counter that fast . |

I think when people answer this question they should think it through first. What i mean is people mistake this question and answer who is there favorite fighter or who is an exciting fighter. Most of the people on this site will say tyson was the best, the general public will say ali was the best, but none of them really look at the fighter ability against his contemperaries and his predessessors.Tyson was not the best of all time and its a shame because he was the most physically gifted and was on track .ie youngest champ ever, best punch in a long time ect, people need to look at a fighters ability and answer that question no there hype or there media coverage THERE ABILITY and not just against todays fighter you need to look back as far as John L Sullivan and Jack Johnsen.I still stick by joe louis as the best fighter/boxer of all time. |

It's a really tough question to answer but I truly belive that on his day Mike could have beaten any boxer/fighter from any era, he was that good:) |

yes i do believe also at his best he could beat any but how long for ? it would have been & was an explosive short reign just like marciano had & joe louis unbeaten for 12 streight yrs i also think ali would give loius problems but he could give anyone problems but i believe tyson had the prototype perfect defense for ali & ali got pounded by frazier so many times louis had lifted fighters off there feet before they went down .jack johnson pulled out his opponents teeth out of his glove .i think louis was the first great champion if there can be a list of only 10 fighters but you should also judge holyfield at his best aswell |

Holyfield was a great fighter very brave and entertaining he was an old school fighter one of the last.Heavyweight boxing is really suffering with the loss of tyson, holyfield and some of the fighters from a few years ago who would have thought we would miss lenox lewis he was so boring and careful but he seems crazy and reckless compared to heavyweights today. It just goes to show how great tyson was for the sport because since he heavyweights are not worth watching |
