Do yourself a favor and start lifting weights, you do not have the genetics of Mike Tyson; and Mike would have benefited from lifting weights too, all athletes benefit from stronger, higher performing muscles. Deadlift and squat HEAVY.

Your not going to be built like tyson doing only push ups. You have to lift big, eat big and rest big to get big. And do little cardio.

Man, you obviously don't know anything about weightlifting. Ok lets say he lifts heavy gains muscle and does little cardio. He gets into the ring and turns into a weasing hippo in the second round. Bigger muscles need more oxygen, Meaning they fatigue faster. He has to do lots of cardio while lifting weights.

Yeah, Mike didn't lift weights in his prime, Steve Lott told me this in his mail. Tyson started lifting weights after he got out from prison, and he was a lot slower because of that. Lifting weights kills the sensitivity on your punches, if you lift too much too heavy weights, your punches becomes strong, but also slow and clumsy. Mike was always big and muscular, when he was 12 years old he weighted almost 190 pounds, all solid muscle.

I would say that you can lift weights, but it's better to do the weight lifting in circuits, high reps with low weights.

There is no single right answer, whether one should lift weights, heavy or not depends on personal requirement. If you already have a good solid build and do not need to pack on any new mass then doing weights with cardio will keep you sharp and in shape nicely providing your diet is in check.

On the other hand, if you have someone that is in need of some mass then you need to life big, lift heavy and eat big and do less cardio, once you have put on the desired amount of mass you workout to get the body accustomed to the new weight and will probably need to do some conditioning work as well to get rid of some of the fat gain.

Mike had freaky genetics and did not need to train heavy with weights in the 80's but 99.9999% of ppl are NOT like Mike Tyson, we are mere mortals Smile

Either way you should do some form of weightraining as it will keep your muscles dense and keep you strong. Your diet is the biggest determining factor of how much mass you are going to put on or how much fat you are going to lose and your diet needs to reflect your training need.

Hey bro

Ya need to lift weights... but not too much, cuz then ya get slow...
Run as well, train bicep, tricep, quadricep and other muscles...

If ya dont lift weights, you will stay a "bone" with only speed and no strenght --'

Good Luck!....

At your age, height, weight ( assuming your not an outa shape fat ass), I would follow Tysons prime 80s routine for at least a full year and see where it gets you. Old school.. pushups, situps, running hills, maybe couple barbell exercices like shrugs, curls at end. But Heavy Bag training and the rest Will build bulk without worrying about getting slow. Weights arent needed at this point in time, as it may make you slower in boxing (this isnt football) if not done correctly and under a real good trainer.

Your only 16, no need to get fancy.

If you want to get a big build then do alot of press ups, but do them with your arms in tight to build shoulders and arms, then gradually start to open your arms to build your chest. Im 15 and I'm a boxing, I had a big build with mostly press ups and sit up, I just started doing weight, but you dont want to be to big because it will slow your hand speed. What my trainer usaly does at my boxing is get little wieght which are anything between, 0.5kg and 2.0kg and he makes me do as much exersize and change to a different excersize every 30 seconds. This is to build a great tone and not bulk.
