I honestly think that since Chris Byrd has dropped to light heavyweight that he is seriously gonna be the best there after a few fights and he's gonna breaking up the other older top dogs there |

Got to say I agree with crystal_Sword but if there's one person I think might beat Calzaghe it's Roy Jones (doesn't really make sense I know) but I think Joe is after 1 more big fight and pay day before retiring and although everybody says Jones is washed up now I really think that Jones will put in a massive effort for the fight with Calzaghe just to stop Joe from retiring undefeated. I'm a massive Calzaghe fan and really want him to win and I reckon he will but wont be that surprised if Jones does. Whatever happens It's gonna be a great fight. Come on Joe:) |

thing is, Joe Calzaghe has not really beaten anyone. He is very over-rated..
He Beat: lacy, nothing but an exciting Club Figher
Kessler, just a belt holder.
Bernard Hopkins, a 43 year old veteran, but truthfully, passed it.
if he beats RJJ, it means nothing. RJJ is way way way way way way way way passed it.
Joe Cal never had a super fight Prime v Prime with someone. So he will never get recognition. |

Thing is, Joe Calzaghe (as champion) has beaten everybody that has been put in front of him for 10 years,
since beating Chris Eubank in 1997. Now nobody who is "over-rated" does things like that.
When Lacy came to England to fight him Lacy was built up to be the super middleweight Mike Tyson and all the Americans
said he was gonna give Joe the beating of his life and Joe put on a masterclass that night, the fight wasn't even close.
Kessler just a belt holder???? I'll be very surprised if he doesn't go on to unify the division in the future and yes I know he
had a close fight with an old Hopkins but Hopkins spoiled that fight (as only he can) from the 4th round onwards.
So come on give the fella a break and give him SOME respect, He truly does deserve it. |

Thats true, Joe Calzaghe is indeed a Class Boxer, but look at British Fighters...
Top Class American fighters usually become Champ in a bout a Year.
Joe Calzaghe took 4 Years.
It's his Promoter, Frank Warren that has destroyed British Boxing. Joe Cal and Hatton wasted their Years buy fighting small fighters Padding their Record; keeping their Defeats at 0.
Calzaghe is one of the Best Fighters, but he wasted his Best Years thanks to this Promoter where he was Fighting Good Boxers, but not Great Boxers.
I mean look at his Best Wins:
He Beat Eubank who was way way way way Passed it.
Lacy, which was really just an Exciting Club Level Fighter.
Robin Reid, which was BTW a VERY Controversial Decision and i believe should have been a rematch. Robin Reid really wanted one, Joe Didn't...
Kessler, who was not really a Great Boxer, IMO his best Win, but Kessler lacked the experience and was not seasoned enough.
Manfredo and Bika were both Nothing Fighers IMO.
IMO, Calzaghe is Britain's Best, and should have had MEGA SUPER Fights against Hopkins/RJJ/Tarver/Tito at around 2001-2005.
Instead he wasted his best years against Good Fighters, not the Greats.
Sadly Because of his Engineered Career, he will only get recognition from most of the British Public, anywhere else, he will be remembered as someone who wasted his Talent.
I mean lets face it.. He won a Sloppy controversial Fight against Hopkins, and Hopkins was 43. What would happen had the fight happened in say 2002 ? |

Yeah crystal_sword, I have to agree with you about Frank Warren taking too long to get his fighters into the top level,
He's doing the same thing with Amir Khan right now. Amir wants to fight the best out there but Warren is too scared about
him loosing his unbeaten record. The way I look at it is just let him fight the best and if he does lose, it will probably turn him into
a better fighter in the long run?? Still think Calzaghe's class though:) |
