Just want to know if anyone knows why Tyson didn't have a rematch with Douglas after he lost to him?

As far as I know Tyson wanted a rematch but Don King wasn't too keen on the idea, not sure why but no doubt money was at the bottom of it all:)

Tyson wanted a rematch, but Douglas wanted to fight Holyfield. I guess there was no rematch clause in their fight contract.

The Douglas fight was meant to be just a good earner before the Tyson/Holyfield showdown, the odds of 42/1 against Douglas winning sez it all, it was'nt meant to last 1 round (hence no re-match clause) & Holyfield was the mandatory challenger with the WBA/WBC so Douglas had to fight Holyfield or be stripped of the belts so any immediate re-match would have been a non-title job. King obviously had no options on Holyfield but he still had options on Douglas who then tried to break his contract & had to fork out $4Million to King in compo before the Holyfield fight + the only way for Douglas to be free of King was to LOSE! Mike became the mandatory for Holyfields title after he beat Ruddock in the official eliminator.

Come-on! We all know King like's his bread buttered both sides.

Tyson wanted the Re-Match.

Douglas was probably aware Tyson would train Harder than ever, and not be so laid back and arrogant of his training prior to the Douglas Fight. Douglas was not dumb, he knew his chances would be very small in the Re-Match, so whilst still on top, he decided to go for Holyfield and get the bigger payday.

If i am correct (Correct me if i am wrong) he showed up for Holyfield just for the pay-day. Apparently nowhere near the shape he was against Tyson.

the issue was the long count as it wasn't overturned in japan tyson camp except for tyson thought tyson shouldn't give a rematch because he hadn't lost it it was mind games by don king this was 1 reason but there are others as well i must say without hype what a great fight
