Number of years back, I watched a very interesting TV documentary on Cus Amato, his training system and how it applied to Tyson's training.
I can't remember who was interviewed but was mentioned that Amato fundamentally wanted his fighters to attack and defend at the same time - nothing too revolutionary about that. Where I thought it got interesting was some of his methods were developed as he studied equestrian & show horses and their gates.
The program mentioned that Amato was particularly interested in the tempo of the horse's gate and training his fighters to mimick that tempo while moving forward. This may sound like lot of horse sh.t but then again it's not that off-the-wall because many techniques in sports are copied from nature.
Can anyone please confirm and possibly expand on this story about Amato's interest in horses concerning developing his fighting techniques? |

i read a few things about damato and it usually was about psychology in the sport, punching with bad intentions, punching when you cant get hit and a lot of defense strategies and new training methods. never heard about techniques seen from horse |
