If you plan on getting a close-up and personal view of Mike Tyson, you’ll pay for it.

Tickets for Tyson’s July 30 boxing match against Danny Williams in Freedom Hall top out at $1,500 for ringside seats. The prices range downward to $40.

“That’s something I did for the people of Louisville,” said promoter Chris Webb, president of Straight-Out Promotions.

“A brokerage company tried to purchase every single $40 ticket prior to them going on sale, and I turned them down and said, `No, these tickets are for the people of the community.'”

There will be several thousand $40 tickets, Webb said. Freedom Hall can seat about 20,000 for boxing.

A press conference today will formally announce the fight between Tyson, the former world heavweight champion, and Williams, the former British heavyweight champ. An announcement on pay-per-view arrangements is also expected today.

No on-sale date for tickets had been announced as of last night. For information, call the Kentucky Fair & Exposition ticket office after noon today at (502) 367-5001 or visit the kyfairexpo.org Web site
