In an interview with the Arizona Republic, Mike Tyson said Antonio Tarver has earned the opportunity to face him following his 2nd round knockout of Roy Jones Jr. Tarver has previously indicated he would jump at the opportunity to fight Tyson. Tyson thinks a fight between the two would prove to be a quick one.

“I’ll fight him and show Roy how it should have been done … one round,” said Tyson.

Tyson also said that the megabout against Roy Jones Jr. is off the table until Roy not only avenges the Tarver loss, but knocks him out.

“I’d like to see Mike get active, get a couple of fights under his belt,” said trainer Freddie Roach while talking with the Arizona Republic. “Mike knows the protocol. He knows how to do it. He knows he needs to fight to get the rust off. Then he can fight for the championship of the world against any one of them.”
