A summary of the interview:
Diego Maradona began with the question how life was going for Mike Tyson.

“I am very happy. My life always has been very crazy, but I am happy now.

I was in your neighborhood today (Villa Fiorito) and we are equal because it is very similar to the one where I came from (Brooklyn),” Tyson said.

When asked if he would return to boxing Mike answered: “no, not at all, unless? no, I dont think so. It is just like you don’t want to play anymore. You have played soccer for a long time. I have been fighting for 26 years and you just lose your love for it. Boxing is not very hard, it is the training that is. And if you do not train as you should, you cannot be successful.”

When shaking hands Mike noticed watches on both wrists of Maradona.

“What’s the deal with the two watches?”, Tyson asked before Maradona explained to him that “they are the time of birth of my two daughters”. Tyson said to have six children “two boys and four girls”.

Tyson was then asked how he began boxing as Mike told the legendary story involving Bobby Steward and Cus D’Amato.

When asked if Mike would become a trainer he answered:
“I don’t think i will be able to do that. It takes a special person to train someone, to dedicate all your time and energy to his well-being. I am not ready for that yet”.

A silence fell when Maradona asked Tyson how it was after the death of his “father” and mentor Cus D’Amato. “I lost the desire after the death of Cus. When he wasn’t around I had desire to leave boxing”, said Tyson.

Mike Tyson answered more personal questions “Boxing is an art, but after the fight i’m just another person. I was a teen and my only goal was to be the best of the world. When people will talk about old fighters some people will say ‘he has great moves etc’ and i wanted people to talk about me like that.”

“I dedicated my life and now i want to live my life. I am tired of people judging me all the time. Sometimes I want to go out or smoke a cigarette, for example, and i must go hiding because of those people. I don’t like that anymore. I only want to live my life “.
