“Iron” Mike Tyson exploded into the national spotlight as a young, raw, intimidating and fierce boxer in his late teens. For close to the next two decades, the mere mention of his name invoked fear and/or fascination around the world. Tyson laid waste to the heavyweight division of boxing from 1985 to 1990, gathering an undefeated record and de-manhooding some of the more prominent boxers of that era: Michael Spinks; Larry Holmes; and Pinklon Thomas. As fast as his meteoric rise occurred, so did his fall from grace.
All this week, ESPN Classic pays homage to the Tyson the world of boxing loved.
Mike Tyson Week will air Monday-Friday from 8-9 p.m. ET on ESPN Classic.
