Williams is a joke

LONDON (AP) — Danny Williams would fight Mike Tyson again but prefers a title bout against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko.

Tyson, once the most feared boxer of his era, was knocked out in the fourth round by Williams in Louisville, Ky., on July 30. Williams spent the next week making TV appearances in the United States.

“I want to fight Klitschko and become WBC champion of the world,” Williams said Monday on his return to London. “That has always been my dream since I was 8 years old. It’s the one (Muhammad) Ali had, and it’s the one I want.”

“I have beaten Tyson,” he added. “So I believe Klitschko would be a pushover.”

Williams was considered a journeyman before the Tyson bout. He had a record of 31-3 but never fought a prominent opponent. He lost to Julius Francis, a British fighter Tyson knocked out in the second round a few years ago.

There’s no shortage of confidence now.

“I was fighting one of the all-time greats, and I was a massive underdog, but I was able to stop him in four rounds,” Williams said. “I’m capable of beating anyone, and well.”

Tyson, 38, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in Phoenix on Aug. 2 to repair cartilage damage. He apparently sustained four tears in the knee late in the first round against Williams. It was Tyson’s first fight in 17 months.

“He’s saying that he hurt his knee, and I’d like to show him that I am a better fighter than he is,” Williams said when asked about a rematch. “The knee injury was a big excuse. It saddens me that he has to go to that level and make an excuse.”

Williams said he was happy to return home.

“I can’t believe all the attention I’m getting, especially in the States,” he said. “People out there have taken to me big-time. They wanted me to stay out there, but I couldn’t stay in the country any longer. I had to get out — I was getting homesick.”

Williams is on cloud nine right now, and he should be. He DID knock Tyson down fo the count, but as far as saying Tysons knee injury is an excuss is ludicris. Its on Film when he tore his lateral maniskis. His camp has not used it as an excuss for the loss. They have only credited you for a good fight. You’re nothing more than a Lucky Hasim Rahman ( lewis vs Rahman I). If the rematch does happen your lights would be out by two rounds.

As far as you wanting to fight Klitschko, what a joke!. You beat a one legged figher! That does not even put in the same league as the current WBO champ. Enjoy your fifteen minutes Rahman, er I mean Willams. Tysons coming.
