Tyson Quotes

"On how Cus Damato helped him: 'People think I was born this way. They dont know what it took to get this way. The training, when you have to do things over and over again until youre sore. Deep in your mind you say, God, I dont want to do this no more, and then you push. I always used to think I was a coward because of the way I felt. Cus was there when I needed him he was the one. Cus would always explain you should always do things to build your character and make you a better individual. He was different than anyone Id ever met, because principle meant more than anything to him, more than money, more than health, more than his life. He would sacrifice anything for principle, for what he believed was right."

Danny Williams is pleased with his preparations ahead of his bout with former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson next week.

The 31-year-old from Brixton is training at the world-famous Gleason's Boxing Gym in New York ahead of the July 30 bout in Louisville, Kentucky.

In a bid to make the best preparations for the fight, Williams believes he will be best served at an American base such as Gleason's, where Muhammad Ali trained before fighting Sonny Liston in 1964.

And the former British and Commonwealth champion declared tonight that he is confident and relaxed ahead of the biggest bout of his career.

He said: "I'm training very hard and doing lots of sprints - the power is increasing, now I've just got to deliver it on the night. "Anyone who's followed my career will know I have a problem with the mental side of things sometimes - I put a lot of pressure on myself.

"But I feel a lot more relaxed than I ever have in my life."

Williams revealed he is using the knowledge of American heavyweight Clifford Etienne in a bid to upset Tyson.

He continued on Sky Sports News: "Clifford has given me a few tips on Mike Tyson - so my preparations have been going well, I've also watched Tyson's fights against Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.

"I know I'm fighting one of the all-time greats. Okay he's not as good as he used to be but he's one of the best fighters in the world, so I'm happy to be the underdog.

"This is a fabulous opportunity for me - I was very surprised to get this chance and when I found out I had I screamed like a little girl.

"But I'm here to do a job on Tyson, and the world title will be the next fight after that."

"I don't like to make predictions - but I'm very confident I'll stop Mike Tyson between the fifth and the eighth rounds."
