Tyson Quotes

"On how Cus Damato helped him: 'People think I was born this way. They dont know what it took to get this way. The training, when you have to do things over and over again until youre sore. Deep in your mind you say, God, I dont want to do this no more, and then you push. I always used to think I was a coward because of the way I felt. Cus was there when I needed him he was the one. Cus would always explain you should always do things to build your character and make you a better individual. He was different than anyone Id ever met, because principle meant more than anything to him, more than money, more than health, more than his life. He would sacrifice anything for principle, for what he believed was right."

Mike Tyson News: Tyson undercard continues to take shape

Posted on Friday, July 16, 2004 @ 10:26:04 UTC by tricks
Promoter Chris Webb/Straight Out Promotions has added a 12-round middleweight fight to the Friday, July 30, 2004, Mike Tyson vs Danny Williams fight card at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.

Webb said today, "We're very pleased to announce that Randy Griffin of Louisville will fight Julio Garcia of Las Vegas on the undercard of Tyson vs Williams.

"Randy is a tremendous talent and has the potential to become world champion. He moved with his family to Louisville a year-and-a-half ago to pursue boxing full-time, and has been doing all the right things. He's working very hard and is in top condition at 160 pounds. He was an amateur standout at 165 pounds, and a top professional prospect at super middleweight and light heavyweight. He'll be even better at middleweight than he was before.

"Julio Garcia is a very tough competitor. He's been in with some of the best in his division and always makes exciting fights. This should be a difficult test for Randy, but this is the kind of fight he needs to keep moving forward. It should be a great match-up."
