Promoter Chris Webb/Straight Out Promotions has added a 12-round middleweight fight to the Friday, July 30, 2004, Mike Tyson vs Danny Williams fight card at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.

Webb said today, “We’re very pleased to announce that Randy Griffin of Louisville will fight Julio Garcia of Las Vegas on the undercard of Tyson vs Williams.

“Randy is a tremendous talent and has the potential to become world champion. He moved with his family to Louisville a year-and-a-half ago to pursue boxing full-time, and has been doing all the right things. He’s working very hard and is in top condition at 160 pounds. He was an amateur standout at 165 pounds, and a top professional prospect at super middleweight and light heavyweight. He’ll be even better at middleweight than he was before.

“Julio Garcia is a very tough competitor. He’s been in with some of the best in his division and always makes exciting fights. This should be a difficult test for Randy, but this is the kind of fight he needs to keep moving forward. It should be a great match-up.”
