Tyson was indicted on Friday on felony drug possession and paraphernalia possession counts and two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of drugs. If convicted of all four charges, he could be sentenced to up to 7 1/2 years in prison, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said.
"Tyson endangered the public and himself and must be held accountable for his actions," Thomas said. "It's my hope that a conviction and prison time will help him to break his addictions and learn to comply with the law."

| Mike Tyson News: Mike Tyson bail hearing video |

 |
Mike Tyson appeared before a judge early this afternoon in connection with his DUI arrest at 2 a.m. Friday morning. The former heavyweight champ was released without bail and charged with one count of narcotic drug possession - a felony. Tyson did not enter a plea and had no lawyer. No alcohol was found in his system, and a DUI charge was not filed pending toxicology tests. Under the terms of his release, the judge ordered Tyson not to leave the state of Arizona and not to possess any weapons or drink alcohol. Additionally, he cannot take drugs without a prescription, must check in with a pre-trial service officer later today and be forced to take drug and alcohol tests. Law enforcement sources told reporters that after Tyson was stopped, the former fighter was cooperative and acted like a gentleman and admitted that he had been using illegal drugs over the last few days. Drug tests revealed that Tyson was "under the influence of a depressant, stimulant and cannabis." The report also went on to say that the former fighter admitted to the arresting officer of possessing the bags of cocaine and said he: "uses anytime he can get his hands on it," and that he: "is an addict and has a problem." When leaving the courtroom Tyson refused to comment. The only comment he made while walking out of jail in the late morning was, "Good morning, Arizona."

| Mike Tyson News: Mike Tyson released after drug arrest in Scottsdale |

JACQUES BILLEAUD, Associated Press writer
December 29, 2006 10:15 AM
PHOENIX (AP) - Mike Tyson was released from jail without bond on a felony drug possession charge Friday after an early-morning arrest in which Buckeye police said they found two bags of white powder in his back pocket.
''He admitted to using today and stated he is an addict and has a problem,'' according to a police probable cause statement filed in Maricopa County Superior Court. ''Mike admitted to possessing bags of cocaine and said he uses any time he can get his hands on it.''
Tyson was arrested early Friday, after nearly ramming a police SUV, on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of cocaine when police stopped him shortly after he left a Scottsdale nightclub. According to the report, an officer saw Tyson trying to wipe a white powder off the console of his BMW as he approached.
In court Friday morning, the former heavyweight champ was dressed in an oversized golf shirt, baggy jeans and tennis shoes. He said nothing, periodically tapping his feet or fingers while waiting for the judge to enter. Tyson did not enter a plea and had no lawyer.
No alcohol was found in his system, and a DUI charge was not filed pending toxicology tests.
Under the terms of his release, Tyson must submit to drug and alcohol testing and may not drink or take nonprescription drugs while the case is pending.
He refused comment as he left courtroom. The only comment he made while walking out of jail in the late morning was, ''Good morning, Arizona.''
Sgt. Larry Hall said the boxer was stopped about 1:45 a.m. after his car almost struck a sheriff's vehicle while leaving the club.
''He showed signs of impairment and voluntarily submitted to field sobriety tests,'' said Hall, a member of the Buckeye Police Department who was working in the area as part of a holiday DUI task force.
Hall said the boxer was alone in the car.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Tyson ran a stop sign and almost hit an SUV driven by a deputy.
''He had to slam on his brakes and take evasive action,'' Arpaio said of the officer. ''Luckily, the deputy was alert.''
Arpaio said Tyson was isolated from other prisoners for his own safety while at the county jail.
The sheriff said Tyson has been there before - as a guest talking to juvenile offenders about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
''The irony is he did a great job with these kids - stay away from drugs, don't drink, stay out of trouble,'' Arpaio said.

|
|
 |
Source: Press Release
Recently less reliable media has been eager to spread rumors about Mike Tyson being hired by Heidi Fleiss.
Former Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson had this to say about the Heidi Fleiss rumors: "I am not working with Heidi Fleiss nor have anything to do with her new business. There is no truth to these rumors." Tyson's agent, Harlan J. Werner, warned that he will take legal action if they continue to use Mike's name to gain publicity.

| Mike Tyson News: Mike Tyson World Tour: Mike Tyson versus Corey Sanders pictures |

 Source: fightnews
By Josh Womack and Antonio Castro at ringside
Mike Tyson's world tour kicked off Friday at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, Ohio, with the former heavyweight champion sparring four rounds with Corey "T-Rex" Sanders. Sanders entered the ring wearing headgear, while Tyson did not use headgear. The fighters used 16-ounce gloves and wore t-shirts. Tyson dropped Sanders in the opening seconds and pressed the action throughout. Sanders seemed to have little interest in trading punches and virtually all the good connects were made by Tyson. Sanders' knees were buckled by a Tyson right in round three, and Tyson landed a big right hand in the fourth. No decision was rendered, because it was an exhibition bout.
